What's up guys. I am interested in bbs and modding. I used to run a board that was pretty modded out. It wasn't as good as this one. Well I have an abuntu box and got the fever again. I tried to install synchronet in ubuntu using the manuals and robs video...no luck
So I guess I am destined to be a user and not a sysop lol.

    Hey, Morningstarr. Welcome!

    And don't give up!

I've had GoF running for a little over a decade under Debian Linux. The installation instructions have changed a bit over time, especially when they made the switch to Git. But I find these instructions work pretty well:

I followed the instructions to the t, and still no luck as of yet.
i think simlink is the problem
I even set the variables for simlink as per the instructions and its not doing it right...perhaps my linux install.

It might be worth your time to hang out in #synchronet on one of the Sync IRC servers. Rob Swindell, Deuce, and many of the Sync sysops are pretty available there to answer questions and help out.
