• Back from vacation, BBS is repaired

    Hi guys,

Just writing to let you know that I was gone for three weeks on vacation with my family. We traveled to Bolivia (in South America).

To my surprise, the BBS managed to stay online the whole time! (It has gone down during previous vacations)

Unfortunately, it appears that a recent upgrade may have caused my local messageboards to become corrupted. Though I connected to the board multiple times during my absence, every time I tried to write a message, the board gave me an error.

Now that I'm back, I ran some fixes and I hope it's all working again. Please write messages! I'd love to hear how things are going for you.

What a great experience! How did you find that part of the world? It's one of the places on our list to visit -- we've made it as far as Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (and loved the people there!) but haven't made it to South America yet.

I wondered why messages from 2015 were showing up as "new" :-)

My wife is from Bolivia, so we have gone back many times over the years. As my family has grown, the trips have become much more expensive, so it has been a few years since our last visit. Our family is in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, which is Bolivia's fastest-growing city, but in the lowlands, rather than up in the altiplano of the Andes, like its other better-known cities.

It's always an adventure, lots of talking and visiting with family. This year we had one quinceanera and one wedding anniversary to attend. Lots of good food. Also met one of my wife's uncles that we hadn't met before. He's a farmer and lives quite far away. Brought a pig, which they cooked for a big family meal.
