It wants me to post a message here...so hi!

I am actually calling from a Commodore 64 Ultimate! Weird to be on an ASCII 80-char BBS on a 40-char C64, but here we are.

Thanks to the sysop for telling me what email I registered under so I could recover my password...

Glad you were able to call! I'm curious how the C64 80-col stuff works.

I know the Atari 8-bit had the XEP80 back in the day (and the VBXE more recently), which both are hardware solutions.

On the ST, there were programs like ANSIterm which used a half-size font to double the ST's 16-color, 40-col mode to 80 cols.

So for a while I was not able to write this because the connection would drop before I would finish, but there was a firmware update for the C64U that specifically addressed the wifi modem, so here I am now...weeks later!

The version of CCGMS that comes with the C64U only has a 40col PETSCII mode, but someone on Bluesky mentioned that there was a later version of CCGMS that has an 80col mode, and that's what I am using now. Unfortunately no ANSI, so only ASCII for this board. I don't know if there is an ANSI terminal that workswith the wifi modem of the C64U.

The 80col mode is kind of hard to see on my 1702 monitor, but there's no way around that. I sit close enough that it's fine for now.

Now that I have a more stable connection, I'll poke around more...

Sweet, glad you were able to work it out, though it's too bad there's no 80-col ANSI solution.

I see from the CCGMS documentation online that it supports "_some_ ANSI control sequences." Does that mean cursor positioning? Color?
