• Retrocomputing fellowship at Emory University

    Hey everyone,

A few weeks ago, I got some exciting news: I have been awarded a fellowship to travel to Emory University in Atlanta, GA, to study Jewish educational games for the Apple II made by the Gesher organization and Yaakov Kirschen. I published these previously lost games on my Break Into Chat in 2022, and have spent many years uncovering their history. Now I have a chance to review first-hand materials from the Southern Jewish community that commissioned one of the games (a graphical choice-based narrative called "The Goldberg Variations").

Anyway, I wasn't sure if I had a chance at this, and I'm very excited to have succeeded. Sometime later this year I'll head to Atlanta.

Thanks, Amis! I'm excited for the opportunity.

I should probably point out that I don't have any Jewish heritage myself (as far as I can tell), but I think this is an interesting story regardless of
your heritage. And I'm honored that so many of the people involved have trustedme with their small parts of it.
